This issue of the Global Journal of Cataract Surgery and Research in Ophthalmology brings together a curated collection of contributions from Nigerian authors. The table of contents reflects a blend of tribute, inquiry and applied public health relevance - hallmarks of a maturing academic and clinical community that addresses local as well as global eye care challenges. The diversity of topics highlights the breadth of Nigerian ophthalmology, from clinical assessment to systemic implications, from individual patient experience to community-based concerns. In this issue, we also honour the Nigerian Ophthalmology legend, Professor Hannah Faal, whose legacy is not merely ceremonial; it reinforces the values of leadership, service, excellence and motivation for future generations.
For readers across the world, I am sure this issue will offer more than information and science. It will help to appreciate the insights that emerge from different healthcare landscapes and the fact that science and research are not practiced in isolation but are shaped by culture, infrastructure, policy and people.
